Bureau of Educated Guesses

Whereabouts

Where do you think they're from?

  1. OneYou get a few photographs of one person. Look at the clothes, the glasses, the haircut, the room behind them.
  2. TwoName the country they say they're from. Type it — the field will find it for you.
  3. ThreeClose counts. You score on how far your guess landed from the truth, so a neighbouring country still pays.
  4. FourEvery reveal tells you what the actual giveaways were. That's the part worth reading.

A note on the premise: you can't read a nationality off a face, and the game doesn't ask you to. What is readable is culture — tailoring, eyewear, grooming, background, even the conventions of the photograph itself. Those cluster by region rather than stopping neatly at borders, which is exactly why the scoring is measured in kilometres.
